Christine Le Berre and Olivier Rannou have initiated a shared creative process, where narrative intertwines with objects and words combine with mechanisms to form a unique universe. During adolescence, one tests their limits, takes risks, and experiments with excess. It is also a time when one may be drawn to a different reality, to the paranormal or occult sciences. Drawing on the theory of the Poltergeist — this powerful energy said to move objects when one is angry — the two artists explore the lack of self-confidence typical of adolescence and suggest an opening towards another reality, perhaps more spiritual, where understanding is shaped through perceptive and intuitive intelligence. Christine draws on her teenage memories, rich with extraordinary experiences, while Olivier uses his motors and other mechanized objects to create a fiction that is both dark and wondrous. ❛❛It is likely that the illusion will not stop at the stage, but will throughout the entire theatre, like a cold draft brushing against the back of your neck. ❜❜The origin of the project : A meetingChristine Le Berre and Olivier Rannou met over 20 years ago, when they were both supported by Lillico, a young audiences venue in Rennes (France). In 2016, together with other artists and technicians from Rennes, they co-founded the Jungle collective and settled into a former industrial wasteland, which the collective transformed into a shared workspace. Each had long been familiar with and appreciative of the other’s work, yet their artistic worlds had never met on stage. The desire, however, had been there for years. One full moon evening, they made a pact and began to reflect on how to turn this desire into a project — bringing together Christine’s singular universe and narratives with Olivier’s inventive tinkering.
